Hey Freelancers and Agencies…
2 Minute Read
Don’t reinvent the wheel.
Years ago we took this approach–back when Jeremy and I (Johnny) were freelancers, and we carried the same principle into our agency when we started it back in early 2016. We knew how the “purists” would cry “FOUL!” at the thought of using certain tools, but we also knew that, well, times change and so must agencies. But really, in many ways, it’s not wasting time or money on things that are available right now–specifically built to give you a head start on what you need to accomplish. Restaurants don’t go milk a cow when they need milk for a recipe… Apple didn’t invent the wheel so that they could ship their products to retail.
A lot of our websites use the ever-popular WordPress platform. It’s great for small to medium sized businesses, churches, start-ups, and even some e-commerce options. Unlike platforms like Wix or Squarespace–which do well for industries such as photography, freelancers, solopreneurs, etc.–Wordpress gives a lot more flexibility and has been around long enough for the internet to provide a plethora* of resources, themes, plugins, and so forth.
One of the ways that we’ve been able to provide our clients with amazing, competitive pricing for our websites is by using a nifty theme called Divi by Elegant Themes. Yes, purists, it’s a WYSIWYG drag-and-drop builder. Get over it. You wanna know why?
Because it’s awesome. Seriously…it’s really great!
Truth be told, I was one of the first to ever even try it out. I used it back in 2014 when I was doing my freelance gig, and just in the past 4-5 years it has evolved tremendously to being one of the best (if not a contender for THE best) theme for WordPress sites.
I’m literally going to share several posts throughout the next month about how awesome it is and why freelancers and creative agencies should consider adding it to their toolbox.

Ok, so there’s one more thing…
Hey–I’m a sucker for contests. Right now Elegant Themes is offering the chance to win a free iMac Pro, and by writing a blog post I can get extra entries. At least it won’t be hard to write these posts… I really do love Divi. But I’ll also be transparent about it 🙂
Here’s the info about the contest that they’re running:
